The Writer’s Life.
Writing is my life. Yoga and meditation saved it.
I’ve been writing since my freshman year in college. I’ve worked in Maine, North Carolina, Maryland, and Georgia as a reporter and editor. And I earned my MFA in New York and garnered a book deal by the age of 25. … only to lose that book deal a year later when the CEO of the publishing house had a heart attack and died. … It’s been a long and winding road that included work as an editor of a business magazine, and later as a pregnancy and parenting editor, then freelance manuscript editor and ghost writer, and health & wellness writer. Switching to freelance and embracing yoga has helped me balance life as a single mom who also strives to keep her publishing dreams alive. Yoga is key. It has saved my back on many occasions, as I often sit for hours when writing on deadline. Yoga and meditation also eased my autoimmune issues and infuses me with peace. I am a more mindful human now who taps into my intuition on the daily, which is super fun when writing characters with voices that often surprise me!
At the end of the day. If you are a writer, you can’t help yourself. It’s who you are. As cliche as it sounds, the journey is the destination. Finding ways to continue writing—and to enjoy the process—is critical. Isn’t that why we are here—to enjoy our lives, breathe deeply, and explore what we love to do? So, thank you for coming to my books page. I’m as passionate about the magical and mysterious writing process, as I am about sharing my books that either help others to become mindful, aligned, healthy, and inspired (via my yoga and meditation books) or to connect with stories by remarkable characters whose journeys to find love often tumble down surprising, mystical, and otherworldly paths (i.e. my fiction).

"Sometimes you find a novel that reminds you of the timeless power of art and music, a compelling novel that you find yourself both immersed in and captivated by. Uriel’s Mask is one of those! Haunting and beautiful, Laura Roe has found her voice in this unique work that sends a clear message: love, music and art can carry us home."
~ Patti Callahan, New York Times best selling author of The Secret Book of Flora Lea and Surviving Savannah.
“Your rendering of Mr. Grasso is an accurate representation of an Italian-American patriarch of the Greatest Generation. He is strong, respected and loved. The mention of Operation Husky and Sicilian farmers add context to his wartime experiences. His flashbacks and dreams-memories are vivid and heartfelt. … His sons each have distinctive attributes that contribute to the family dynamic. … And I found Lulu to be the emotional heart of the story. Her open and raw wounds propelled me through her journey. Between Thoughts of You is a poignant and deeply affecting story—painful, touching and moving. It kept me engaged and emotionally invested in your characters!”
~ Michael Badalucco, Emmy Award Winning actor & proud 2nd generation Sicilian.
